The editable tables are an advanced ability that transforms a table into an interactive interface. Unlike traditional read-only tables, editable tables allow the users you define to modify data directly in each cell, without the need to open additional forms or access an external control panel. 

This simplifies the user experience, and significantly improves efficiency in information update processes. It is especially useful in solutions where data must be updated by several actors, such as work teams, or external collaborators.

How to set up an editable table from the Wizard for SmartView 

Here we show you the detailed process for setting up an editable table using the Wizard for SmartView. This flow requires no programming knowledge, so you can quickly implement it for your clients. 

Step 1: Start the SmartView wizard 

  • Choose "Create new view from the Wizard for SmartView". 
  • Inserts the "editable table" skill 

Step 2: Enter the wizard and connect to a data table 

  • In the editable table wizard, select the database from which the data will be obtained and to which the data to be updated will be given. 
  • Make sure it contains the fields that your users should see and edit. 

Step 3: Column selection 

  • Choose the columns to be displayedn in the table. 
  • Mark as "Editable" the columns that will allow editing, for example: name, status, mail or comments. 

Step 4: Adjust behavior and save changes 

  • Do you want to allow data export? 
  • Do you want to enable the creation of new rows directly from the table?

After saving the configuration of your editable table in the Wizard for SmartView, define the following permissions 

Who can see this table, all authenticated users or only certain profiles?
