Creating by creating: when automation becomes a real experience

The MasterBase® MCCR Program expanded its third version to more than 13 DUOC UC sites and new Chilean universities, including UBB, UNAB and UTFSM.

The MasterBase® Maker Co-Automation Starter Program (MCCR) continues to consolidate its growth in the Chilean university system.

In its third version, the program expanded to more than 13 DUOC UC sites and added new institutions such as Universidad del Bío-Bío, Universidad Andrés Bello and Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María.

With 40 students from four universities, this edition reaffirmed a training model that unites academics with business innovation, allowing students to apply their knowledge in real automation projects within the MasterBase® platform.

Experiences that make a difference

Five version 3.0 students shared their reflections on the program. Below is a summary of their views on the training cycle.

FPP students

What motivated you to participate in the functional automation program with MasterBase® and how has it impacted your professional training?

  • Alfonso (UNAB): “I was motivated to apply my knowledge in a real professional environment and understand the value of automation in business.”
  • Belen (UFTSM): “Curiosity about learning about automation without code and working alongside experts drove me to participate.”
  • Ignacio (DUOC UC): “The self-management of the program helped me organize my time and apply what I learned in a real-world setting.”

2. What were the main learning and skills you developed during your participation in the program?

  • Alfonso: “I learned to think of automation as a comprehensive strategy and to solve problems in a logical and practical way.”
  • Bethlehem: “Design logical flows, use tools, automata and understand the different roles within the Flex Partner ecosystem.”
  • Ignacio: “I learned to look at issues from a functional perspective, shaping solutions that are useful to others.”
  • Santiago: “I strengthened my critical and structured thinking to build solutions applicable to the real world.”
  • Nicolas: “I reinforced logical thinking and soft skills such as asking for help and working in a team.”

How would you describe the experience of working with a technology company like MasterBase® during your training?

  • Alfonso: “An enriching experience, with constant support and a collaborative environment.”
  • Bethlehem: “Valuable and positive, because of the commitment and organization of the whole team.”
  • Ignacio: “Very enriching; it allowed me to learn about the different roles within a technology company.”
  • Santiago: “Everyone was willing to help and bring different perspectives to the problems.”
  • Nicolas: “Motivating and challenging, always with the support needed to overcome obstacles.”

4. What advice would you give to other students who are thinking of applying to this type of collaborative programs between educational institutions and companies?

  • Alfonso: “Take the opportunity to learn guided and apply what you learn step by step.”
  • Bethlehem: “Let them dare; these opportunities really drive professional growth.”
  • Ignacio: “Don't pass up the experience; it's a great way to consolidate knowledge with expert support.”
  • Santiago: “Always ask, everyone is willing to help and teach.”
  • Nicolas: “Don't underestimate automation; it's challenging and very rewarding.”

5. Why do you think more companies should join this type of alliance with educational institutions?

  • Alfonso: “Companies benefit by training professionals with real knowledge of their systems.”
  • Bethlehem: “Because students and companies learn from each other, sharing visions and experiences.”
  • Ignacio: “Because it allows companies to meet new talent and students to gain experience.”
  • Santiago: “These partnerships motivate students and prepare them with real tools for their future career.”
  • Nicolas: “They offer real career development opportunities, not just more options.”

6. How would you describe this internship experience and its value in your training process?

  • Alfonso: “A comprehensive experience that taught me how to build complete automated solutions.”
  • Bethlehem: “Helpful and concrete, it helped me decide that automation is the way I want to go.”
  • Ignacio: “It allowed me to apply my knowledge and develop soft skills that are key to real work.”
  • Santiago: “It helped me see automation from a more applied, everyday perspective.”
  • Nicolas: “Balanced and challenging, with constant accompaniment that encourages learning.”

7. What would you highlight about the program and its impact on your development as a future professional?

  • Alfonso: “The constant accompaniment and technical demand prepared me for real projects.”
  • Bethlehem: “Learning from professionals helped me feel more prepared for my career challenges.”
  • Ignacio: “The methodology fosters autonomy and responsibility, keys to professional development.”
  • Santiago: “The chance to present real solutions in front of experts was a formative experience.”
  • Nicolas: “It changed my view on automation, teaching me to think holistically about solutions.”

Road to program version 4.0

Following its success, the program is now preparing for its next version 4.0, which will begin on January 5, 2026.

With 80 students preselected from eight Chilean universities, new institutions are incorporated, such as the University of Concepción, the Pontifical Catholic University, the San Sebastian University and the Universidad de los Andes of Chile.

Discussions are also underway with universities in other countries interested in replicating the model, paving the way for a future internationalization of the MCCR program.

In this way, MasterBase® consolidates its role as a bridge between the academic and business worlds, training a new generation of digital professionals.
