The secret behind campaigns that work: discover the power of A/B testing in MasterBase®.

Find out which version of your message connects best with your audience and optimize your campaigns with A/B testing.
AB Test

Performing A/B tests is one of the most effective practices to optimize your email marketing campaigns and understand which content connects better with your audience. With MasterBase®, this feature allows you to compare versions of the same message and discover, based on real data, which one generates more opens, clicks or conversions.

Every detail counts. Sometimes a word in the subject line, an image or the color of a button can make the difference between an email being opened and ignored. A/B testing helps you validate those decisions in a controlled and automatic way, ensuring that every mailing is an opportunity to improve results.

What is A/B testing?

An A/B test in MasterBase® consists of sending two versions of the same message to different groups within your database. The system analyzes the performance of both versions - according to the criteria you define, such as openings or clicks - and automatically sends the best evaluated version to the rest of your contacts.

This way, you can test variations of subject lines, images, calls to action, sending times or any other element that impacts the performance of your campaigns.

How it works inside MasterBase®

The process on the platform is simple and fully automated:

  1. Access the menu Act / A/B Testing.
  2. Select New A/B test.
  3. Complete the form with the campaign data.
  4. Define versions A and B of the message.
  5. The system sends tests A and B to random segments (up to one 25% of the base each).
  6. The analysis period is expected to be determined in order to measure the results.
  7. After that time, the system automatically selects the best performing version and sends it to the rest of your base (C-segment).

Each mailing generates its own reports and statistics, allowing you to understand precisely what factors influenced the success of the campaign.

What you can evaluate with A/B Testing

  1. Subject lines: Change a keyword, tone or structure. A minor variation can significantly alter the open rate.
  2. Preheader: Experiment with phrases that reinforce the issue or generate curiosity.
  3. Design and format: Evaluate different button layouts, colors or sizes.
  4. Call to action: Try different ways to invite clicks or conversions.
  5. Schedules and shipping days: Find out when your audience responds best.
  6. Customization: Use subscriber data (such as name or interests) and measure its impact.

The key is to modify only one element per test. This way you can isolate the result and understand what change generated the improvement.

Benefits of applying A/B Testing

  1. Better understanding of your audience: Find out which communication style your contacts prefer.
  2. Continuous optimization: Each test provides you with learnings applicable to future campaigns.
  3. Increased conversions: By identifying the most effective versions, you directly improve overall performance.
  4. Data-driven decisions: These are not assumptions, but measurable results.
  5. Intelligent automation: MasterBase® takes care of the analysis and final submission, freeing you from manual tasks.

Good practices to obtain reliable results

  1. Define only one objective per test (e.g.: increase apertures, not clicks and apertures at the same time).
  2. Maintain a representative sample size. Sending tests to 25% from your base is an adequate standard.
  3. Establish a reasonable period to collect results. A range of 6 to 24 hours usually provides solid data.
  4. Make sure that both groups are randomized and exclusive. This avoids bias in the results.
  5. Document every learning. Every test is accumulated knowledge for your next campaigns.

Analysis and reporting within MasterBase®.

At the end of the test, you can access the Reports in the same section. There you will see the three generated mailings (A, B and C) with their independent metrics: deliverability, opens, clicks, conversions and bounce rate.

In addition, MasterBase® generates static filters to clearly identify to which segment each message was sent, delivering accurate statistics that facilitate interpretation. This transparency allows you to optimize future segmentations and maintain full control over your results.

Tips for using A/B Testing as a growth strategy

  1. Experiment often. Consistency turns data into real learning.
  2. Record the results and create your own “effectiveness manual”: an internal guide with the patterns that work best for your brand.
  3. Align testing with your content strategy and business objectives.
  4. Don't limit yourself to aesthetic changes: test concepts, benefits and narrative structures.
  5. Integrate the results with your automation system to adjust shipments and nurture your marketing flows.

How to run your A/B Tests efficiently in MasterBase®.

To get the most out of it, plan your tests with intention. Before setting up a test, define what hypothesis you want to validate. For example: “Subjects with an explicit benefit get more openings than those with an informative tone”.

Then design the two versions (A and B) with that clear difference and configure the shipment in MasterBase®. The system will analyze the results and apply the best evaluated version without your intervention.

This process improves your current campaigns and creates a knowledge base that enhances the effectiveness of all your future communications.

A/B testing is an indispensable tool for improving your email marketing strategy. They allow you to make decisions based on data, not assumptions, and to optimize every detail that influences the user experience.
